One of the highlights of being a member is our annual Gem Lakes camping trip! Tucked away in the Narrow Hills Provincial Park is this quiet and tranquil collection of lakes that is one of Saskatchewan’s best kept secrets.
This trip brings truth to the fact that sometimes adventure doesn’t always mean adrenaline-packed and instead can mean being brave enough to unplug and connect with your surroundings.
Our trip starts with a hike in to our lake-front camp site – where there’s no electricity, no cell service –and no bathrooms. It’s perfect.
Once we set up camp we made food over the fire, relaxed in a group of hammocks and watched the sun set.
We hiked, we paddle boarded, we braided each other’s hair and we had many laughs getting our food tied up in the trees. I bought this Rock Sock thing, which was great once we figured it out, but there aren’t many ideal trees to tie your food in –and no one tells you in the video that you can get this thing stuck!
HIGHLIGHTS:
Eating breakfast cooked over a fire in a hammock with your feet over the water, ducks in the distance and the sun shining on your face is a simple pleasure you just can’t put a price tag on.
Taking our paddle boards on to the lake after dark and watching the stars!
Getting to spend the weekend with very cool women, in the elements and living in the moment.
2024 Gem Lakes Trip
Obviously, we’re going to do this again! Our next trip is planned for September 7th-9th and this trip alone is a top reason to get yourself a Being Brave Club Membership!
